Description
This book is not another tutorial. It’s a comprehensive guide to running a real-world webMethods integration platform, tailored to your organization’s actual needs — from architecture and deployment through operations and continuous evolution.
Written by Christoph Jahn, who has been working with webMethods Integration Server since 2002 and has been involved with some of the most demanding Integration Server projects world-wide, this book distills over two decades of hands-on experience into actionable patterns and practices validated at enterprise scale.
What’s covered
Domain-Driven Design and hexagonal architecture applied to integration, giving your platform the structure it needs to evolve with your business rather than becoming the bottleneck.
Deployment across the full spectrum — VM-based, container-based, and fully cloud-native — including how to gradually transition between models and mix-and-match approaches while always maintaining a single code base.
Full coverage of CI/CD and Test-Driven Development for integration, along with in-depth treatment of operations and observability to ensure your platform is truly production-ready.
The ability to quickly and cleanly adapt to changing business requirements is the core theme throughout, tied together by two guiding principles: business agility and operational stability.
The AI angle
Every chapter includes a dedicated focus on how AI can accelerate your work — in architecture, development, testing, deployment, and operations — while maintaining quality and avoiding the technical debt that careless AI adoption tends to create.
For organizations in regulated industries or scenarios where data privacy and security are non-negotiable, the book also covers how to leverage AI in purely local and air-gapped environments.
