Floccus bookmark sync with Nextcloud and self-signed certificate

To sync bookmarks across multiple machines, I use Floccus and Nextcloud as the storage backend. My setup is such that I run Nextcloud on an internal VM and it only has a self-signed certificate.

When configuring a profile in Floccus on a freshly installed browser, I got a “network” error without any additional information. Here is what you have to do in such a situation:

Simply go to the Nextcloud homepage in a normal browser tab, which will then show a warning because of the certificate.
Accept that risk and you will arrive at the Nextcloud homepage.
Now your browser is ok with your self-signed certificate, and so is the Floccus add-on.
You can now create the Floccus profile without issues
